Zara and Sam's Inclusive Home

This home designed for Zara and Sam cater to both the couples physical and enviromental needs. To satisfy both Zara and Sam’s aesthetic, they have opted to use a combination of aesthetics to satisfy both their design preferences which is a contemporary mediterranean design, specifically inspired by spanish revival design. Designing a Spanish Revival home involves drawing inspiration from the architectural and cultural elements of Spain, particularly from the Mediterranean region. using simple lines, arches, terracotta tiles, evoke the feeling of being fully immersed in spanish design. The Spanish Revival style is both elegant and inviting. To get this look, a neutral palette with a combination of textures was used. to aid to zara’s disability, elements within the space have been refined. such as custom multifunctional furniture, under cabinet lighting, customised workspaces, handrails and adaptable lighting controls. the overal design of the space reflects both of the couples design preferences, while promoting a safe environment for zara to live in, allowing her to embrace and accept her disability without feeling like she is any different from sam.
